Description
Crispy, sweet, and absolutely irresistible, air fryer apple fries are a fun and healthier twist on a dessert or snack you’ll love!
Ingredients
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko or regular)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
1. Wash and peel the apples, then cut them into thick wedges or “fries.” Remove the core and seeds carefully.
2. In one shallow bowl, mix flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In a second bowl, place the beaten egg, and in a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs and sugar.
3. Dip each apple wedge into the flour mixture, then the egg, and finally coat it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
5. Arrange the coated apple wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray the tops of the fries with more cooking spray for extra crispiness.
6. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. The apple fries should be golden brown and crispy.
7. Serve warm with a side of caramel sauce, whipped cream, or yogurt for dipping.
Notes
- Best Apples: Choose firm apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji. These hold up well during air frying and provide a balanced flavor (tart or sweet).
- Thickness of Slices: Cut the apples into even, thin slices (about 1/4-inch thick). Thin slices cook more evenly and crisp up better in the air fryer.
